Our GOOP inspired NYC hotel search begins

The impetuous for our GOOP inspired New York trip is my husband’s speaking engagement at AIA-NYC, AIA is the American Institute of Architects. We are a bit restricted in terms of location, but with the subway, GOOP’s walking tours and our love for people watching, we are good just about anywhere.

Let the fun begin!

The Jane was recommended on GOOP’s NYC city guide, but for a 30 and 40-something couple who over-values sleeping in, and wants our own bathroom? We are just not this hip. Beautiful and inventive website though:

The Ace Hotel, again funky fresh website, but I want to feel like I am escaping my 10 year old stepson’s room and live in luxury for a few days.

Ah, now the Greenwich is more my style. Robert DeNiro’s luxurious, quiet and private hotel located in Tribeca. But with rooms starting at $525 range for 325 sq ft? Will we find something in the $200-$300 range? Hopefully? Note the quote on the website…

The Crosby Street Hotel is LEED Certified Gold, which is a bonus considering our architectural purpose for travel. But again, $500+ for room, and that is the LOW end? I must be cheap, or am I coming to the obvious realization that Gwyneth Paltrow lives outside of my means.

Our quest continues!

Interested in what my husband is going to be talking about? He is a panelist at the New Renaissance in Healthcare Design.

Randy Guillot is a Design Principal with Cannon Design, a 1100-person international design firm, currently. Randy’s work is changing the face of today’s healthcare architecture by creating buildings that are filled with daylight, connected to nature, and designed to promote health and well-being. Randy leads healthcare design for the Chicago practice and serves as a leader in the firm’s national and international healthcare practice. In addition to designing projects for institutions in the Chicago area, such as Advocate Healthcare, Froedtert Cancer Center, Northwest Community Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, he has led the design of facilities around the world including Turkey, India, China and Singapore.
